Change the file/deposit ownership if you no longer want to be the person in charge of the file/deposit. The person you change ownership to will take it over as if they were the one who originally created the file.
Follow these steps to change ownership of a file/deposit.
- Click on the file/deposit you want to change the ownership of from your Workspace.
- Click on the Change Ownership button located in the top-right corner of the File Details page.
- Select the user to change the ownership to. You can change ownership to one user.
- In Land Titles Online, you can change ownership to any other Land Titles Online user in your firm. Select their name from the User dropdown list.
- In eRegistration, you can change ownership to any other eRegistration user from any firm. Start by selecting the user’s firm from the dropdown list, then search for, and select the desired user in that firm from the User dropdown list.
- In Plan Deposit Submission, you can change ownership to any Plan Deposit Submission user in your own firm. Select the user from the dropdown list.
- (Optional) Add a message to the new owner. Teranet Manitoba does not see these comments, and they are not included with the registration submission (Available in eRegistration only).
- (Optional) Decide if you want to retain access to the file/deposit once you change ownership (Available in Land Titles Online and Plan Deposit Submission only).
- (Optional) Decide if you want to change the ownership of all of your files at once.
- Confirm your choices and change the ownership of the file/deposit.
- The new owner receives an email including any comments provided in this section.
- Change ownership icons are placed directly on your file/deposit as well as on the Workspace list (if you retained access). The new owner sees similar visual notifications.
Tips
- In Land Titles Online, changing a file’s owner does not reset the expiration date, which remains 120 days from the date the first item is ordered.
- In eRegistration, the transferor’s agent can change file ownership to the transferee’s agent, enabling both parties to complete and upload their portions of a transfer transaction.
- In Plan Deposit Submission, changing ownership does not change the name of the surveyor assigned to the deposit. Contact Teranet Manitoba to request a surveyor name change.
Cancel or change the change ownership
- Cancel the change ownership process at any point before confirming to return to your file/deposit.
- Once ownership changes, you cannot cancel the process, even if you still have access.
-
To reverse a change of ownership, ask the current owner to transfer the ownership back to you.
